Automation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join CPPC Public Company Limited, Packaging Business, C.P. Group. This is a full-time position based in Chachoengsao . As an Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimising automated systems and processes within our packaging operations. This position is essential to enhancing our operational efficiency, improving product quality, and maintaining our competitive advantage in the packaging industry. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation across our manufacturing facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for packaging production lines and related manufacturing processes
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation projects
• Develop and maintain control system software, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and human-machine interfaces (HMIs)
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of automated systems to ensure optimal performance
• Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimisation of existing automation equipment and systems
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system designs, schematics, and operational manuals
• Collaborate with production teams to identify automation opportunities and address operational challenges
• Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations
• Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel
• Monitor system performance metrics and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience in Industrial Automation, PLC, Industrial Control Systems, Robotics, AI, IoT, or related fields will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, inverters, and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge and practical experience with Modbus communication protocols, including Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Experience in integrating PLC, sensors, meters, machines, and industrial devices using Modbus or other industrial communication protocols.
• Knowledge and practical experience with Node-RED for industrial data integration, workflow automation, IoT applications, and machine data monitoring.
• Ability to develop Node-RED flows and integrate data from PLCs, sensors, databases, APIs, and other industrial devices.
• Programming skills in Python, C/C++, C#, or other relevant programming languages.
• Knowledge or experience in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Data Analytics, or IoT will be an advantage.
• Understanding of Industrial Ethernet, TCP/IP, MQTT, OPC UA, or other industrial communication protocols will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Ability to read and understand electrical, control, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
• Familiarity with engineering design, simulation, data analysis, or automation software.
• Good communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
• Proactive, innovative, and willing to learn and apply new technologies to improve manufacturing processes.
• Willingness to travel or work across multiple manufacturing sites as required.
• Professional Engineering License or relevant engineering certification will be an advantage.
• Good command of English is an advantage.
