What they need
Location: Ploiesti - Romania
At Flexitech Group, with over 1,300 employees across seven countries, we specialise in the design and manufacture of braking and cooling systems for the automotive industry. As a Tier 1 supplier and aftermarket supplier, we are recognised for providing innovative solutions that contribute to the safety and performance of vehicles worldwide.
As part of our growth in Ploiesti, we are looking for an Automation Engineer to support the ramping up of a new automated production line at our manufacturing site. This new line features a vision-guided robotic pick-and-place cell, composed of a flexible feeding system, a Cognex machine vision system, and a SCARA robot.
The role
As Automation Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:
- Implement vision-based poka-yoke strategies, including dimensional verification and good/bad part sorting before robotic picking
- Program, configure, and optimize the machine vision system, including vision job creation and integration with feeding and robotic equipment
- Perform or validate camera-to-robot calibration and ensure accurate pick positioning across the full field of view
- Optimize vision performance, including lighting setup, pattern matching algorithms, recognition stability, and handling of overlapping or poorly presented parts
- Ensure robust communication between vision system, feeder, and robot, and fine-tune cycle parameters such as part separation, dispersion, and pick window definition
- Support commissioning and ramp-up activities of the automated cell in a live production environment
- Troubleshoot vision, communication, and positioning issues during production start-up
- Document system configuration, tuning parameters, and best practices, and provide training to internal teams
In you role you will work in:
- Rapid ramp-up phase
- Direct interaction with automation, production, and quality teams
About you
To be successful in this role, we need you to have hands-on experience in Cognex vision systems applied to robotic automation, ideally with a background in commissioning, or ramp-up of automated inspection, or pick-and-place systems in production environments.
You bring most of the experience below:
- Machine vision systems programming and commissioning (Cognex is a MUST HAVE)
- Vision-guided robotics and automated pick-and-place applications
- Industrial inspection systems and poka-yoke implementation
- Camera calibration and vision-to-robot coordinate transformation
- Pattern matching techniques (geometric / model-based recognition)
- Lighting setup and optimization for industrial vision systems
- Handling of part variability, overlap, and unstable presentation conditions
- Integration with industrial automation systems (robotics / feeders / PLC environments)
- Troubleshooting in live production and ramp-up environments
- Strong problem-solving skills under production constraints
Why join us?
At Flexitech, you’ll be part of a dedicated and passionate team where collaboration and innovation support high performance.
You’ll find:
