What they need
Automation Engineer
Full-time | Remote (US) | Reports to the CIO
About the role
We are a Revenue Cycle Management company. We use automation to handle work that would otherwise be done by hand, at a volume people cannot keep up with.
This role owns that automation. You will build it, run it, and fix it when it breaks. Some of it already exists and needs finishing. Some of it does not exist yet.
This is a hands-on engineering job. You will be the person responsible for these systems, not one developer among many.
What you will do
- Build and maintain automated processes in Python. Some run on a schedule, some are started by hand.
- Write and tune SQL against SQL Server. The data work is as important as the Python.
- Integrate with outside systems through their APIs.
- Automate work on websites that do not offer an API, using tools such as Playwright or Selenium.
- Keep processes running day to day. When one fails, you find out why and fix it.
- Take over systems that already exist, read the code, and work out why it does what it does.
- Work with our AI engineer on agent-based automation, and grow into supporting that work as it scales.
- Work with our operations team to understand the business rules you are automating.
- Write down how things work, so the next person does not start from zero.
What we need
- 3 or more years writing Python professionally.
- Real SQL Server and T-SQL experience. Queries, stored procedures, and tuning.
- You have built automation that runs on its own, and you have supported it in production.
- You have deployed your own work to a server and kept it running there.
- Experience automating a website you do not control, with Playwright, Selenium, or something similar.
- Experience working with APIs.
- Git.
- You can work on your own, decide what matters first, and say when something is blocked.
Nice to have
- Healthcare experience. Claims, billing, or insurance. Not required, and we will teach you.
- Windows server environments.
- Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365.
- Working with large language model APIs, and writing prompts.
- Document automation. Generating PDFs or Word files from data.
Is this you?
This role is a good fit if you like owning something end to end, you are comfortable being the person who gets called when a process fails, and you do not mind reading someone else's code to understand a system.
It is probably not a fit if your background is mainly reporting, dashboards, or analysis.
We would rather be clear about that now than three months in.
What we offer
- Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package
- Paid time off and company holidays
- Support for professional development
