What they need
If you're an Automation Engineer who wants to implement, lead, and project manage entire projects, read on.
You'll work on controls projects from design through to commissioning, covering PLC, HMI, SCADA and drives. Some are small machine builds, others are larger systems integration projects.
This role suits an engineer from an electrical or tertiary background who can deliver controls projects now and wants to lead and project manage them. We’re also open to an intermediate engineer capable of learning the project leadership and project management aspects on the job.
Why you'll love this
Project variety and ownership: Projects typically range in value from $50k to $2.5 million, with a few weeks to a few months of engineering followed by up to a month on site. You'll take on leading and project managing more of them as your experience grows.
**Training and career development:**This is a company where people are well supported to build their careers. You can get support in so many areas here: electrical registration, CMSE, training on controls platforms like Ignition, project management, electrical design, embedded electronics and machine vision...
A balanced week: The split is roughly 50/50 between the office and client sites. Most clients are in the Auckland region, and out of town work only happens if you want it. Standard hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Perks
There are many other benefits too, including:
- Work vehicle for work use and your commute
- Laptop and phone
- Time and a half after 9 hours Monday to Friday and on Saturdays, double time on Sundays
- Away-from-home allowance, with travel, accommodation and meals covered, for out-of-town work
- Tool allowance for computer gear, drives, electronic gadgets etc.
- Christmas bonus
- Social committee that takes on ideas from employees, with regular events, a couple of out-of-town trips a year, and team BBQs
What you'll do
- Project delivery: Implement controls projects from customer requirements through to commissioning, and lead and project manage them as you grow into it
- PLC, HMI and SCADA: Program and commission control systems for machines and plants, including drives. The team mainly works with Siemens and Rockwell PLCs
- Small machine builds: Develop the controls for small machines, including machines the team designs and builds themselves
- Industrial networking: Design and set up the networks that tie control systems together
