Automation Engineer – Motion Safety

RDT is looking for an Automation Engineer – Motion Safety to support a major technology and research project in Lund, Sweden .

This is a hands-on engineering assignment focused on functional safety of moving machinery, motion control and industrial automation . You will work closely with a Motion Control & Automation team to implement motion safety solutions and integrate them into motion control PLC systems.

The assignment

• Evaluate motion-related hazards and define motion safety requirements according to EN ISO 12100 and EN ISO 13849
• Design and implement functional safety systems
• Support integration of safety systems with motion control PLC systems
• Participate in verification and validation of functional safety on moving machinery
• Prepare technical and safety-related documentation
• Support commissioning and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems
• Collaborate closely with engineers and other technical stakeholders

Requirements

• Engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years of experience developing, integrating and commissioning industrial automation systems
• Experience with verification and validation of industrial automation systems
• Experience documenting industrial automation and safety systems
• Knowledge of functional safety principles for machinery
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent written and spoken English

• Experience using SISTEMA for safety design verification calculations
• Experience with Pilz safety systems
• Experience programming and commissioning TwinCAT 3
• Experience with motion control and machinery safety
