Automation Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for automation and equipment upgrade projects for a food processing factory;
• Evaluate existing production processes, equipment conditions, and opportunities for automation improvement;
• Develop suitable automation or semi-automation solutions based on the company’s actual production needs;
• Source, compare, and evaluate automation equipment suppliers, machinery vendors, and system integrators;
• Review equipment specifications, quotations, technical proposals, and scope of delivery;
• Assist management in evaluating project costs, benefits, return on investment, and risks;
• Follow up on equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, trial production, and acceptance;
• Coordinate with the Production, Engineering, Quality, Procurement departments, and external suppliers;
• Ensure new equipment complies with food production, cleaning, hygiene, safety, and quality requirements;
• Establish standards for equipment operation, maintenance, testing, and acceptance;
• Provide regular updates to management on project progress, issues, and improvement recommendations.

Requirements:

• Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Food Engineering, or related disciplines;
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in food processing, beverages, packaging, central kitchen, FMCG, or manufacturing industries;
• At least 3 years of experience in automation projects, equipment upgrades, production line improvement, or equipment implementation;
• Familiar with automation equipment, conveyor systems, packaging equipment, inspection equipment, sensors, control systems, or PLC applications;
• Experience in equipment procurement, supplier evaluation, installation and commissioning, and project acceptance;
• Knowledge of food production environments, hygiene requirements, and equipment cleaning requirements is preferred;
• Strong project management, cost analysis, problem-solving, and cross-departmental communication skills;
• Able to independently evaluate technical proposals and provide clear recommendations to management;
• Proactive, detail-minded, responsible, and able to make professional judgments based on the company’s actual interests.
• Good command of Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) and English is a must;
