Automation Project Engineer

Core Technical Responsibilities

PLC, HMI, & Motion Control

• Programming & Logic: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs across industry-standard platforms (Siemens TIA Portal/Step 7, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Mitsubishi, Delta, Schneider). Implement sequence logic, safety interlocks, alarms, and recipes.
• Interface Design: Build and configure user-friendly HMI/SCADA screens (WinCC, FactoryTalk, etc.) to manage parameters, user access, and diagnostics.
• Drive Systems: Configure, tune, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and precision servo systems for motors, conveyors, and actuators.

Electrical, Instrumentation, & Networking

• Panel Integration: Review electrical schematics, manage panel fabrication with vendors, and conduct detailed I/O point-to-point wiring checks.
• Sensors & Calibration: Select, position, and calibrate critical industrial sensors (proximity, photoelectric, pressure, temperature, load cells).
• Industrial Protocols: Set up and diagnose industrial communication networks utilizing Profinet, Profibus, Modbus RTU/TCP, and Ethernet/IP.

Project Management & Lifecycle Execution

Execution & Cost Management

• Map out project schedules, track progress against timelines, and mitigate technical risks across multiple simultaneous projects.
• Generate automation Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement and maintain cost-effective material consumption.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Design, Production, Procurement, Quality, and external vendors.

Testing, Commissioning, & Field Support

• FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing): Prepare protocols, execute automation related I/O signal testing, and successfully close out punch points before machinery leaves the shop floor.
• Breakdown Diagnostics: Provide root-cause analysis and permanent fixes for critical field or shop-floor automation breakdowns.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain version control for PLC/HMI source code backups and drive parameters.
• Compile technical documentation package: Electrical drawings, I/O maps, instrument/alarm lists, FAT/SAT reports, and As-Built drawings.
• Ensure systems align with company engineering standards, customer URS, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Automation DQ & URS Cross-Verification: Conduct and document Design Qualification (DQ) activities by cross-verifying machine automation design, control philosophy, PLC/HMI functionality, instrumentation, alarms, interlocks, data handling, and critical parameters against the approved customer URS and applicable compliance requirements. Identify gaps, deviations, and design risks, coordinate corrective actions with Design/Engineering/Quality teams, and ensure DQ documentation is complete and traceable before FAT/SAT and project handover.

• Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, incorporate hardware safety interlocks, and follow standard PPE guidelines.

• Technical Software: Proficiency in TIA Portal, Step 7, Studio 5000, AutoCAD Electrical, and MS Project.
• Behavioral: High project ownership, analytical problem-solving, collaborative teamwork, strong client-facing communication, and flexibility for field travel.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• On-time project completion within defined budgets and technical scopes.
• Swift closure of FAT punch points and successful first time-right SAT handovers.
• High quality of programming logic resulting in reduced machine downtime and cycle-time optimizations.
• Complete documentation traceability and high customer satisfaction scores.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
