Automation Support

Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time, experienced Automation Support on the London production of STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW.

Written by Kate Trefry, an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, directed by Stephen Daldry, co-directed by Justin Martin for the Phoenix Theatre and produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions.

Candidates will require relevant hands-on professional theatre experience in automation, the ability to work under pressure and within a team, and good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities.

Responsibilities include the maintenance and operation of the automation equipment for the production, overseeing automation operation, and working within a team to ensure that the show’s automation requirements remain true to the original concept. Candidates must have a minimum of one year working in automation.

Experience on a large scale production is desired and any candidate must be highly organised with good communication skills. Knowledge of STS would be useful and Ability to climb (Work Positioning/Work restraint) a bonus.

Start Date: November 2026
