Automation Test Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright.
• Create and execute automated test cases for web applications across different browsers.
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop and maintain reusable automation frameworks and test utilities.
• Work with JavaScript or TypeScript for writing automation scripts.
• Identify, report, track, and retest defects using bug-tracking tools.
• Perform API testing and validation using Playwright API testing or tools such as Postman.
• Implement data-driven testing and manage test data effectively.
• Integrate automation test suites with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Analyze test execution results, troubleshoot failures, and generate test reports.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA team members to understand requirements and ensure test coverage.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Follow coding standards and best practices to improve test coverage, maintainability, and execution efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in software testing, including automation testing.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright automation testing.
• Good knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of software testing concepts, including STLC, SDLC, and defect life cycle.
• Experience in writing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts.
• Knowledge of locators, assertions, waits, hooks, fixtures, and browser contexts in Playwright.
• Experience with cross-browser testing using Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit.
• Understanding of Page Object Model (POM) and reusable automation framework design.
• Basic knowledge of API testing using Postman or Playwright APIRequestContext.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems.
• Familiarity with test reports such as Playwright HTML reports or Allure Reports.
• Understanding of Agile methodology and defect-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Good analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience integrating Playwright tests with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or other CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of SQL and database validation.
• Familiarity with Docker and test execution in different environments.
• Basic understanding of performance testing concepts.
• Exposure to cloud-based testing platforms such as BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.
