Job Summary

An Automation/ Design Engineer is responsible in leading and supporting engineering tasks on assigned projects, from concept stage to mass production. He/she is responsible for developing innovative mechanical solutions, preparing cost estimates, managing project documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality proposals and designs.

Job Description

• Design custom mechanical mechanisms, automated assembly fixtures, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and robotic cells using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).
• Supporting business development team by provide technical support and clarify specifications during the project RFQs phase to ensure alignment with customer/stakeholder expectations.
• Manage requests for quotations (RFQs), gather essential information, develop initial concepts, and research components, devices, and associated costs to estimate project pricing.
• Develop product requirements by interpret customer/stakeholder requirements and translate them into design specifications, assessing feasibility and delivering technical expertise.
• Conduct feasibility studies (DFX) to verify capability and functionality or to assess existing technologies.
• Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests mechanical based design solutions by using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies.
• Make sound design recommendations by using product design analysis tools such as DFMEA, Simulation, DOE, toll-stack etc.
• Conducting concept design review and details design reviews, ensuring all deliverables meet the required standards.
• Work as a “hands-on” Engineer in performing troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process.
• Lead and perform root cause analysis on the issues found during development and sustaining phase.
• Produce detailed technical drawings adhering to design specifications and industry standards (GD&T). Generate comprehensive drawings reflecting the actual construction or assembly of the product.
• Support mechanical engineering tests, characterizations, cyclic and reliability tests according to product requirements.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal teams (PM, Marketing/internal customers, Test engineers, Hardware engineer, Firmware, Software engineer, production engineer and etc.) and external teams (suppliers, design partners, contract manufacturers, etc.).
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing staff to communicate project requirements and specifications (DFM). Provide technical support and guidance to ensure efficient fabrication of products.
• Comply to the documentation requirement and database management as required in the QMS of legal entity.
• Ensure all the responsible design are delivered according to the corporate design standards.
• To be competent as a mechanical lead (technical and tasks lead, schedule, issues tracking, job allocations, mentoring etc.) for NPI and Sustaining projects if required.

Qualification sand Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field preferred. Master or PhD in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering certification is an advantage.

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in automated machine design, custom assembly automation, or system integration.

• Strong in the DFX, DFM, and DFMEA tool in product development cycles.

• Strong in the designs of mechanism, injection molded plastics, part/material/component selection, die-castings, extrusions, elastomeric parts, sheet metal parts, metal stampings, and EMI shielding.

• Proficiency in CAD software (Unigraphics (UG) NX, ZW3D, SolidWorks, etc.).

• Strong in using CAE tools for design optimization, problem analysis, and documentation.
