AUTOMOTIVE CONTROLLER

Jeff D'Ambrosio Auto Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Automotive Controller to join our team in Downingtown, PA. This key role will oversee financial operations and controls within our dealership, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise and leadership skills to drive financial performance and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and statements.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports to support business objectives and provide insights to management.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff in daily tasks and professional development.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Controller or similar financial leadership role within the automotive industry is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

We are looking for a detail-oriented financial professional with strong leadership skills, extensive automotive dealership accounting experience, and the ability to manage a fast-paced accounting department.
  
  
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records, improving accounting processes, and ensuring financial compliance while supporting dealership profitability and growth.
  
  
Key Responsibilities
  
  
Oversee all daily accounting operations and financial activities for the dealership.
  
  
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and operating reports.
  
  
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  
  
Ensure accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts, bank statements, and schedules.
  
  
Monitor cash flow, expenses, receivables, payables, and dealership profitability.
  
  
Supervise, train, and develop accounting department personnel.
  
  
Oversee vehicle inventory accounting, floorplan reconciliations, and manufacturer statements.
  
  
Ensure compliance with GAAP, manufacturer requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
  
  
Work closely with dealership leadership to analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  
  
Maintain strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting.
  
  
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
  
  
Identify and implement improvements to accounting procedures and operational efficiency.
  
  
**Qualifications**
Previous automotive dealership Controller experience strongly preferred.
  
  
Strong understanding of dealership accounting practices and financial operations.
  
  
Experience preparing and analyzing dealership financial statements.
  
  
Knowledge of vehicle inventory accounting, floorplan financing, and manufacturer reporting.
  
  
Proficiency with dealership management systems such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar platforms.
  
  
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  
  
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  
  
Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
  
  
Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism.
  
  
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
