Essential Responsibilities:

Sales Floor & Closing

  • Manage and maintain control of the sales floor throughout the day.
  • Work directly with Sales Consultants on active customers and assist in closing deals.
  • Take TOs and personally work difficult, high-value, and undecided customers.
  • Present and negotiate deals while protecting dealership gross.
  • Assist Sales Consultants with pricing, payments, trade values, objections, and closing techniques.
  • Create urgency and momentum with every showroom opportunity.
  • Monitor all showroom traffic and ensure every customer receives proper management involvement.
  • Review unsold customers and identify opportunities to recover lost deals.
  • Personally assist with customers who are close to purchasing but have not committed.
  • Lead by example by actively participating in deals and closing customers.

CRM & Phone Activity

The Closer/Floor Manager is expected to LIVE IN THE CRM every day.

  • Spend a significant portion of each day actively working the dealership CRM.
  • Make consistent outbound calls to previous customers, unsold showroom traffic, internet leads, phone leads, appointments, sold customers, service customers, and other dealership opportunities.
  • Follow up with customers who previously visited the dealership but did not purchase.
  • Contact customers with pending appointments and work to increase show rates.
  • Make confirmation and reminder calls throughout the day.
  • Work aged leads and unsold opportunities to generate additional showroom traffic.
  • Identify customers who may be eligible for a trade-up, lease renewal, payment reduction, or new vehicle opportunity.
  • Re-engage lost and inactive customers.
  • Work with Sales Consultants to ensure their follow-up is being completed properly.
  • Monitor CRM activity and hold Sales Consultants accountable for calls, texts, emails, appointments, and overdue activities.
  • Make management follow-up calls when a sales Consultant is unable to reach or close a customer.
  • Create appointments and opportunities directly through outbound prospecting.
  • Use the CRM as a daily business-generation tool, not simply as a place to document activity.
  • Maintain accurate notes and customer information after every meaningful interaction.
  • Ensure no qualified customer or opportunity falls through the cracks.

Sales Consultant Management & Accountability

  • Monitor Sales Consultant performance throughout the day.
  • Coach Sales Consultants in real time on phone skills, objection handling, TOs, negotiations, and closing.
  • Hold Sales Consultants accountable for CRM activity and follow-up.
  • Monitor appointments, shows, write-ups, demos, sold customers, and unsold traffic.
  • Review each Sales Consultant's pipeline and identify opportunities that need immediate attention.
  • Help Sales Consultants prioritize their follow-up and daily activity.
  • Ensure Sales Consultants are actively prospecting instead of waiting for walk-in traffic.
  • Maintain a competitive, energetic, and accountable sales environment.
  • Lead by example with personal phone calls, appointments, TOs, and closed deals.

Deal Structure & Gross Management

  • Review and structure deals to maximize dealership profitability.
  • Protect front-end and total gross through effective negotiation.
  • Work closely with Sales Managers and General Sales Management on difficult or unusual deals.
  • Assist with trade negotiations and vehicle valuations.
  • Ensure deals are structured properly before being sent to F&I.
  • Identify opportunities for additional gross while maintaining a positive customer experience.
  • Help Sales Consultants understand the importance of gross, payment, trade equity, and overall deal profitability.

Daily Business Development

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Making outbound phone calls.
  • Working the CRM.
  • Creating appointments.
  • Following up with unsold customers.
  • Working aged leads.
  • Re-engaging previous customers.
  • Contacting service customers and potential trade opportunities.
  • Working with the BDC to maximize appointment opportunities.
  • Generating showroom traffic.
  • Taking TOs.
  • Closing deals.
  • Helping Sales Consultants close deals.

There should never be a point during the sales day where the Closer/Floor Manager is simply sitting around waiting for an opportunity.

If there are no customers actively being worked, the manager should be in the CRM, on the phone, prospecting, following up, coaching, or creating the next opportunity

Tasca Family Commitment

Tasca Automotive Group was founded in 1943 by Bob Tasca, Sr. In 1953 Bob opened the original Tasca Ford in Bristol, Rhode Island. Just one year later this dealership was completely destroyed by Hurricane Carol. Bob relocated and ultimately opened up the new Tasca Ford at 777 Taunton Avenue in East Providence, Rhode Island. It was here that Bob and his team became the second largest Ford dealership in the world in the 1960's. This was also the birthplace of the Tasca Racing program and many historic muscle cars such as the Ford Cobra Jet, Tasca Street Boss, and Mystery race cars.

Bob opened Tasca Lincoln Mercury in Seekonk, Massachusetts in 1972. TLM became the highest volume Lincoln Mercury dealership in the world in 1986, and repeated again in 1987 and 1988 while also winning the Ford President's Award for outstanding customer satisfaction. This fulfilled Bob's dream of saying "None Bigger, None Better." It was also at the Seekonk store that Bob launched the innovative Pre-Trade program, pioneering the concept of short term trade cycles and leasing. He was also joined in the business by his three sons, thus fulfilling another of his dreams to build a successful family business.

In 2002 Bob opened his flagship dealership in Cranston, RI. Featuring Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, and Volvo the Cranston location was one of the most high tech and largest facilities in the country. It featured amenities such as drive in service write up, an in house Italian café, drive through carwash, and spacious customer lounge. It was at this time that Bob was joined in the business by his grandsons and granddaughters, continuing his dream of a family business. When Bob Tasca, Sr. passed away in 2010 he left a proud legacy of honesty, integrity, and customer satisfaction.

70 years and three generations later the Tasca Family continues to grow. We have been blessed over the past seven decades with great customers and great employees. We would like to thank the members of our team who continue to work so hard to satisfy our customers. We would also like to thank the thousands of families who have trusted us over the past 70 years. We humbly look forward to keeping our commitment that YOU WILL BE SATISFIED.
