Automotive Service Advisor/Writer

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression of our dealership or service center
• Listen attentively to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues using estimating software and diagnostic tools
• Explain necessary repairs and maintenance options clearly, emphasizing benefits and upselling additional services when appropriate
• Prepare detailed repair orders, estimates, and invoices using automotive estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
• Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of services such as oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, transmissions, tire service, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and collision repairs
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding vehicle status, additional recommended services, and cost estimates to enhance customer satisfaction
• Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining organized records of all service activities

Skills

• Proven experience in automotive service writing or auto estimating with familiarity using estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools (not required but perfered)
• Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, brakes, suspension components, oil change procedures, tire service, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and collision repair processes
• Experience working in a dealership environment or with service technicians to diagnose automotive issues and recommend solutions
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers of varying knowledge levels
• Ability to upsell additional services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools and mechanical troubleshooting techniques
• Strong sales skills combined with a customer-first attitude; experience in auto service management is a plus
