Automotive Service Writer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced automotive service team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary communicator between customers and our service technicians, ensuring a seamless flow of information regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and customer service will drive customer satisfaction and foster trust. You will be responsible for accurately estimating repairs, upselling additional services, and managing service documentation with precision. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your automotive repair background while honing your skills in auto service management and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, listen to their vehicle concerns, and accurately document their needs for service.
• Prepare detailed repair estimates using estimating software, incorporating parts, labor, and additional services such as oil changes, tire service, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, shocks & struts, transmissions, and collision repairs.
• Communicate clearly with technicians about diagnostic findings and required repairs to ensure efficient workflow.
• Upsell appropriate maintenance services and repairs by highlighting benefits aligned with customer needs to enhance vehicle longevity and safety.
• Manage all aspects of service writing including cash handling, invoicing, and processing payments accurately.
• Maintain thorough records of vehicle repairs, estimates, and customer interactions while ensuring compliance with dealership standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repair procedures in understandable terms and addressing any questions or concerns promptly.

Experience

• Previous experience in automotive diagnostics or as a service technician is highly preferred.
• Proven track record in auto estimating software and automotive repair processes.
• Dealership experience or background in automotive service management is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools and collision repair procedures.
• Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, oil changes, alignments, suspensions, tire services, shocks & struts, brake systems, and more.
• Excellent client communication skills paired with sales ability to confidently upsell services that benefit the customer’s vehicle health.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record to facilitate test drives or vehicle inspections when needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
