Automotive Technical Support Representative

Hiring now: Technical Service Representative, Automotive Coatings (Remote)

My client, a global specialty coatings manufacturer, is looking for a hands-on technical service professional to support its automotive customers across Michigan.

The role

You’ll be the technical face of the business on customer lines, helping automotive suppliers get the best from new and existing coating systems on interior plastic parts.

• Support customers through trials, launches and day-to-day production issues
• Set and optimize application parameters and process windows
• Troubleshoot defects and complaints, from root cause to corrective action
• Train customers’ painters and application engineers
• Advise on application equipment and present new products
• Work with the lab on product development and customer adjustments
• Document trials and reports

What we’re looking for

• Hands-on experience coating interior automotive plastics (exterior or refinish-only backgrounds won’t be a fit)
• Practical knowledge of application equipment, including bell or rotary atomizer, nozzles, and piston or diaphragm pumps
• Experience in a technical service, application engineering or paint process role, on the supplier or customer side
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers
• Willingness to travel to customer sites
• A formal degree isn’t required. Hands-on experience matters most
