Job Description:

Automotive Technical Braking/Chassis Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong hands-on diagnostic and repair experience, ideally from a dealership environment. This role supports the development and validation of automotive service technical training courses. The SME collaborates with curriculum developers and engineers to ensure technical accuracy and learning effectiveness. Candidates must possess expert-level knowledge of braking, chassis, mechanical, and electrical systems, along with strong communication and technical writing ability.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert technical guidance for braking and chassis training course development
• Research, validate, and review technical content for accuracy
• Support development of web-based, instructor-led, and hands-on training materials
• Perform technical reviews, diagnostic testing, and content validation
• Translate complex technical information into clear instructional materials
• Collaborate with SMEs, curriculum teams, and stakeholders
• Utilize OEM tools, diagnostic equipment, and digital resources
• Support evolving project requirements and timelines

Required Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 5 years automotive technician experience focusing on braking/chassis systems
• Extensive experience with diagnostics and repair of mechanical and electrical systems
• Proficiency using OEM scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and advanced diagnostic equipment
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic capability
• Technical writing experience (required)
• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, training platforms)
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Experience developing technical training (preferred)
• GM dealership technician experience (plus)

Education & Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Braking Systems and Suspension and Steering ASE certification (A4 and A5) – Required
• ASE A1–A8 certifications – Strongly preferred

Knowledge Requirements:

• Strong working knowledge of braking systems, chassis, mechanical systems, and electrical systems
• Understanding of modern diagnostic strategies and OEM service procedures
• Ability to deliver and support multiple training formats (web, video, VILT, hands-on)
• Understanding of dealership service environments and training center operations
• Clear verbal communication and presentation skills

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
