Work on Everything From Everyday Cars to Collectable Classics

No two days in our workshop are the same.

Supporting The Motor Company, Ute Nation and Southern Specialist Cars, our technicians work across an incredible variety of vehicles.

One day you could be working on a family SUV or dealership vehicle, the next a modified 4WD, European performance car, collectable classic or specialist vehicle.

Our workshop regularly sees:

• Everyday passenger vehicles and SUVs
• Utes and modified 4WDs
• European vehicles
• Performance cars
• Collectable classics
• Premium and specialist dealership stock

Unlike many independent workshops, you'll work across three successful automotive businesses, providing consistent workflow and exposure to some of the most interesting vehicles in New Zealand.

The Motor Company Service Centre is a growing Christchurch workshop backed by three successful automotive businesses — The Motor Company, Ute Nation and Southern Specialist Cars.

You'll be working from an industry-leading facility with modern equipment and the tools you need to do the job properly.

We aren't a corporate franchise workshop, and we aren't a production line.

We're a privately owned automotive group that values skilled tradespeople, backs its team and believes good technicians should be well rewarded for what they bring to the business.

The Role

As an Automotive Technician, you'll be hands-on across dealership stock, retail customer vehicles and specialist builds.

Your work may include:

• Vehicle diagnostics and fault finding
• Mechanical servicing and repairs
• Scheduled maintenance
• Pre-purchase inspections and dealership vehicle preparation
• Accessory installation, 4WD upgrades and modifications
• Quality control and final inspections
• Working closely with our service, workshop and sales teams

What We're Looking For

We're looking for experienced technicians who take pride in their work and want to be part of a workshop that's continuing to grow.

Ideally, you'll have:

• A recognised Automotive Technician qualification
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability
• Experience across a range of makes and models
• High attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• A positive attitude and team-first approach
• Good communication skills

Experience with European, performance, 4WD or specialist vehicles is an advantage, but not essential.

A current Warrant of Fitness authority, or willingness to obtain one, is also desirable.
