Project Yonder designs and manufactures high-end 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter motorhomes and more from our workshop in Hastings.

We’ve recently moved into a larger workshop as we increase production and we’re now looking to bring more of our trimming and upholstery work in-house.

We’re looking for an experienced Automotive Trimmer / Upholsterer to join the team and help us develop this side of the business.

The role will cover a mixture of automotive upholstery, trimming and development work, including:

• Reupholstering and retrimming vehicle seats
• Dashboard and cab trim
• Door cards and interior panels
• Upholstered wall and ceiling panels
• Bespoke interior components
• Pattern making and development
• Cutting, sewing and foam work
• Working with leather, vinyl and automotive fabrics
• Developing new trim details and prototypes
• Creating repeatable patterns and processes for production
• Developing new products

You’ll work alongside our design and production teams, with a mixture of established components and completely new parts that require patterns and trimming methods to be developed from scratch.

Our longer-term aim is to establish our own in-house trimming and upholstery department. We’d therefore particularly like to hear from someone who is interested in taking more ownership of this area as it develops.

About you

You may currently work in automotive or coach trimming, classic car restoration, Land Rover/Defender restoration, marine upholstery, motorhome interiors or another area of professional upholstery.

We’re looking for someone with good practical skills who can work independently, solve problems and produce work to a consistently high standard.

Experience with industrial sewing machines, pattern making, foam, leather, vinyl and trimming complex shapes would be particularly useful.

You’ll work directly with the people designing and building our vehicles and have plenty of input into how our trimming and upholstery processes develop.

Location: Hastings, East Sussex

Job type: Full-time or Part-time

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15am–4:30pm for full-time. Part-time hours also possible.

Pay: £14.00–£18.00 per hour, depending on experience

We’re flexible on working pattern for the right person and would be happy to discuss anything from a few days per week through to full-time.
