ABOUT MONTESSORI COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Founded in 1980, Montessori Community School (MCS) is fully accredited by the American Montessori Society. Our beautifully planned 13-acre wooded campus, located between Durham and Chapel Hill, provides an inspiring environment for children from Toddler through 8th grade. The campus features sunny, spacious classrooms; a fine arts building for music, art, and ceramics; a sports field and track; numerous playgrounds; and a gymnasium.
Our community is rooted in the Montessori philosophy of respect, curiosity, and care for self, others, and the environment. We are dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and welcoming school community where students, educators, staff, and families experience a deep sense of belonging. Collaboration is central to how we work, honoring diverse perspectives, supporting one another, and modeling the spirit of community we seek to instill in our students.
Montessori Community School strives to be an intentionally diverse campus composed of people of different ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities, family structures, sexual orientations, racial identities, national origins, religions, and abilities.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Montessori Community School (MCS) is seeking an engaging, energetic, and entrepreneurial Auxiliary Programs Manager (APM) for this full-time, 12-month leadership position. This position entails the creation, coordination, and management of the Auxiliary Programs, which include MCS' Early Care (before-school care), Late Day (after-school care), Enrichment Programs (after school), non-school-day childcare, and summer programming.
This work involves the creation, planning, and implementation of daily programs that are developmentally appropriate, nurturing, Montessori-oriented, and enriching for children from Toddler through 8th grade, while also serving as a consistent source of revenue for MCS.
The APM will oversee these programs end-to-end, from developing the vision and program portfolio to driving enrollment, managing the business aspects of the programs, hiring, training, and leading staff, and ensuring a high-quality experience for every child and family.
The Auxiliary Programs Manager reports directly to the Head of School. Work will be performed in indoor classroom and office spaces, as well as throughout our outdoor 13-acre wooded campus. Core work hours will vary depending on the time of year (academic calendar months versus summer months) and are subject to program needs throughout the year.
This position reflects an understanding of and commitment to the school's mission: striving for an intentionally diverse community composed of people of different ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities, family structures, sexual orientations, racial identities, national origins, religions, and abilities.
