What they need
The role
Lead AV Technician · Golden, CO · Full-time, hourly · $40–$50/hr DOE · 4×10 schedule
High Country Low Voltage (HCLV) is a commercial AV and low-voltage integrator in Golden, Colorado. We build boardrooms, council chambers, training rooms, LED walls, and the infrastructure behind them for public agencies, general contractors, and commercial clients.
The Lead AV Technician runs the job on site. You turn a PM's plan into a finished, labeled, tested system, lead a crew of two to five technicians, and hand the Field Engineer a job with zero installation work left. We want someone who works hard, won't accept sloppy work from themselves or anyone else, and makes the people around them better.
At a 20-person company you'll be known by name, have direct access to the owner, get decisions made in a day, and have a clear path forward.
What you'll do
Lead the crew
- Review project documents before the job starts and flag missing items, risks, and concerns.
- Come to pre-install meetings with a labor plan and solutions, then load labor plans and task lists into Fieldwire.
- Lay out each day's work and assign tasks to technicians based on their skill level.
- Train and coach Tech I and Tech II crew members on the job, and give the PM honest feedback on their progress.
- Lead by example on pace, attitude, and standards.
Own the quality
- Make sure every install meets HCLV Installation Standards and AVIXA/BICSI best practice: organized racks, labeled cable, clean terminations.
- QA all work on site. You are accountable for the work your crew completes.
- Test everything before calling the job 100% complete. The Field Engineer should find zero installation work when they arrive.
- Deliver complete redlines (including cable levels), labeled photos, and completion forms in Fieldwire at closeout.
Run the job site
- Send daily reports to the PM in Fieldwire and track actual hours against the labor plan.
- Send equipment requests to the PM daily, and follow up on every reported issue until it's resolved.
- Get PM approval before starting any out-of-scope work.
- Coordinate with the on-site customer contact and GC so work areas are ready on schedule.
- Keep the site clean and secure, and keep your van stocked, maintained, and clean.
- Clock in and out accurately and allocate hours to the correct project.
What you bring
Required
- AVIXA CTS-I, current, or a credible fast track to it. If you don't hold it yet, you'll need a current AVIXA CTS (or proof you've started CTS-I prep) and a commitment to earn CTS-I within 3 months of hire. HCLV supports continuing education and certification.
- 5+ years of commercial AV installation, including at least 2 years leading crews on site.
- A track record of running jobs from pre-install through closeout, on schedule and to standard.
- Able to read and work from signal flow diagrams, construction drawings, rack elevations, and project documents.
- Hands-on experience installing and terminating AV and low-voltage systems: displays, projection, audio, cabling, racks, and infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of networking and AV-over-IP.
- Clear written and verbal communication for daily reports, client contacts, and GCs.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel within our territory.
- Able to lift 50 lb and work on ladders and lifts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred
- Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, or Extron manufacturer training or certifications.
- BICSI Installer or Technician credential, or OSHA 10/30.
- Experience with Fieldwire, Asana, or similar project tools.
- Experience on public-agency or GC-led commercial projects.
How we work: HCLV Core Values
We hire, review, and promote on these four values. As a Lead, you'll be expected to live them and hold your crew to them.
Core Value
What it looks like from a Lead Tech
Reputation First
You put your name on every job and would proudly show it to your family. You fix issues fast and never compromise standards to hit a date.
Quality Is a Habit, Not an Action
Organized racks, labeled cable, solid commissioning, and complete documentation on every job. You don't leave install mistakes for service calls to fix.
Ownership Is Expected
When something goes wrong on site, you step forward, tell the PM fast, and stay on it until it's resolved. No excuses.
Teamwork Is the Standard
You share what you know, step in when teammates need help, and call out problems directly when standards slip.
Work ethic matters here.
We're looking for someone who shows up ready, finishes what they start, and takes pride in a hard day's work done right.
