What they need

Casual Ramp & Operations Agent

Avcair is seeking a reliable, customer-focused team player to join our ground services team in a casual position, with the potential for full-time employment for the right candidate.

Our strength lies in our people. We value individuals who take initiative, support their teammates and take pride in delivering exceptional service.

About the role

This hands-on role combines Fixed Base Operator (FBO) ground handling with day-to-day operations support. You will help ensure aircraft, passengers and crew receive safe, efficient and professional service, supporting flights ranging from private VIP charters to aeromedical retrievals.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing ramp and ground handling services, including aircraft marshalling, baggage loading and unloading, and assisting with aircraft positioning and towing as trained and authorised.
  • Welcoming passengers and crew, assisting with arrivals and departures, and coordinating ground transport, catering and other service requests.
  • Preparing passenger and crew facilities, maintaining presentation standards, and keeping ramp and work areas clean, safe and ready for use.
  • Coordinating aircraft servicing requirements, including refuelling requests, with approved providers.
  • Supporting daily flight operations, including monitoring schedules, coordinating aircraft turnarounds and communicating with crew, clients and service providers.
  • Assisting with charter enquiries and quotes, flight planning and operational documentation under the direction of the operations team.
  • Managing phone calls, emails, bookings, records and general administrative tasks.
  • Following airside safety and security procedures, completing relevant checks and promptly reporting hazards or incidents.

Hours and availability

This is a casual role, with shifts rostered according to operational requirements across a 24/7 operation, including weekends and public holidays. Applicants must be comfortable with variable hours and early morning, evening and overnight shifts.

What we’re looking for

Preference will be given to local candidates with aviation, FBO or ramp handling experience and a current, valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

You must:

  • Hold a current, valid driver’s licence, be able to drive and have reliable transport to attend rostered shifts.
  • Have the legal right to work in Australia.
  • Hold a valid ASIC or be eligible and willing to obtain one before undertaking duties that require it.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with passengers, crew, colleagues and service providers.
  • Be dependable, safety-conscious and comfortable balancing practical ramp duties with office and operations support.
  • Be able to safely carry out the physical requirements of the role, including baggage handling and outdoor work.
  • Take initiative while working effectively as part of a team.

Why join Avcair?

At Avcair, Aviation. Excellence. is more than a motto. You will join a team committed to professional service, gain exposure to a diverse range of aviation operations and have the opportunity to grow with the business.

How to apply

Please submit your résumé and a cover letter. Your cover letter must clearly state:

  • Your relevant aviation, FBO, ramp handling or operations experience.
  • Whether you hold a current ASIC and its expiry date, or your willingness to obtain one.
  • Your current suburb or location and ability to travel to work.
  • Your driver’s licence status, ability to drive and access to reliable transport.
  • Your Australian work rights, including any visa conditions or work restrictions.
  • Your availability, including nights, weekends and public holidays, and your earliest start date.

Please ensure each of these points is addressed so we can assess your suitability for the role.
