What they need

For the last six decades, Garver has been designing aviation projects for more than 250 airport clients across the country. Through this experience, Garver understands the complexities of airport systems held together by runways, roadways, facilities, and electrical systems that must work in tandem to accommodate daily needs for passenger travel and cargo transport. As part of Garver's commitment to continued innovation in airport design, our Aviation Design Center maintains a diverse, skilled design team dedicated to providing the expertise and leadership to assist our clients in meeting their current and future needs.

As part of the Garver Aviation Design Center in Fayetteville, AR, you will have the opportunity to receive training from senior engineers in various elements of aviation electrical engineering design, including airport lighting and signage layout, airfield power distribution design, and FAA navigational aid facility improvements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the aviation civil team and your electrical team to develop detailed design and specification documents for airports, including one-line (single line) diagrams, power plans, lighting plans, and required design calculations.
  • Coordinating with other support discipline activities on projects, coordinating with regional Garver offices and regulating agencies, construction cost estimating, and quality assurance and control.
  • Some regional travel may be required as projects may require field work for site assessment of project locations and support during construction. Occasionally this travel may involve overnight stays. Regional travel is estimated at 5-10% of time, however if desired there will be opportunities to provide full-time or extensive part-time observation early in your career to provide accelerated hands-on learning and provide a grounding for your design work.
  • As responsibilities grow, this engineer will have the opportunity to work on airports throughout Garver’s service area. The engineer also could perform onsite construction observation duties, construction administration and submittal reviews for projects under construction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 0-1 years of related experience
  • Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) or the ability to become a EIT or EI within 1 year of employment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with both internal employees and external clients
  • Some travel may be required (approximately 10% with occasional overnight)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D
