Aviation Senior Project Manager

Aviation Engineering Leader | Fully Remote

Metric Search is recruiting an experienced aviation engineering professional to take a leadership role delivering airport infrastructure projects.

This opportunity would suit a Senior Engineer, Project Manager, Engineering Manager or Aviation Team Leader looking to combine technical oversight, project delivery and client relationships.

Candidates with broader aviation practice leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity:

You will oversee airport engineering projects from planning and design through bidding and construction, lead technical teams and serve as a key contact for airport clients.

Projects include runways, taxiways, aprons, drainage, utilities and other airside and landside infrastructure. You will also contribute to the development of client relationships and the growth of the aviation practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead aviation infrastructure projects, overseeing scope, budgets, schedules, staffing and quality.
• Guide and mentor engineers, designers and subconsultants across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Provide technical oversight of airport civil engineering design, including airfield geometry, pavements, grading, drainage, utilities and construction phasing.
• Build strong airport client relationships and coordinate with airport sponsors, the FAA, FDOT, permitting agencies and contractors.
• Review engineering plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Oversee construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, change orders and site coordination.
• Support proposals, scopes of work, fee development and new business opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

• An active PE license and a degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, including airport or aviation infrastructure projects.
• Experience taking responsibility for project delivery, technical teams or client relationships.
• A strong understanding of airport civil engineering and FAA design standards.
• Experience delivering projects through design, bidding and construction.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while leading teams remotely.
• Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, site visits and project coordination.

Experience with FDOT requirements, FAA or FDOT-funded projects, Civil 3D and business development would be beneficial.

Location and Working Arrangement

This is a fully remote position, with candidates ideally based in Florida but not required. Periodic travel to project locations will be required.
