Job Description- Part-Time/Professional Positions

Job Title: Postsecondary Readiness Tutor Wage/Hour Status:

Reports to: School Counseling and AVID Coordinator Days Worked: 180

Primary Purpose:

To help students lear****n subject matter and skills that will contribute to their academic achievement, on-time high school graduation, and postsecondary readiness.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification/Licensure:

• Must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate

Special Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational skills
• Bilingual preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with individual and small groups of students under the supervision of instructional staff or the credit recovery lab manager

• Conduct tutorial sessions using collaborative learning and the practice of students teaching students through discussions

• Assist in teaching study skills and other aspects of college preparation

• Communicate with their coordinator/teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern

Professional Growth and Development:

• Engage in continuous learning through AVID and related tutor trainings
