Job Title: Senior IT Application Solutions Architect – Cloud Security

Location: Washington, DC

Contract Duration: November 2, 2026 – October 8, 2027

Schedule: 5 days per week, 40 hours per week

Rate: $78/hr to $80/hr on W2.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior IT Application Solutions Architect – Cloud Security with extensive experience in AWS cloud infrastructure, security architecture, and enterprise cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will design and implement secure, scalable cloud environments, establish security standards, and ensure compliance with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure AWS cloud architectures aligned with enterprise security standards and best practices.
• Develop and manage AWS landing zones, multi-account environments, security baselines, and governance frameworks.
• Implement identity and access management solutions using AWS IAM, IAM Identity Center, and least-privilege principles.
• Design secure cloud networking solutions, including VPCs, network segmentation, private connectivity, WAF, and security groups.
• Leverage AWS security services such as Control Tower, Security Hub, GuardDuty, AWS Config, CloudTrail, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
• Conduct cloud security architecture reviews, threat modeling, risk assessments, vulnerability management, and remediation activities.
• Automate cloud security controls and infrastructure deployments using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and scripting tools.
• Implement DevSecOps practices and integrate cloud security controls with development, infrastructure, and security operations teams.
• Support container security for Amazon ECS and Kubernetes environments using Amazon EKS.
• Integrate AWS and Azure security controls with SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security frameworks, including NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, and HIPAA, as applicable.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve security challenges.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of overall IT experience across architecture, infrastructure, operating systems, databases, networking, applications, and cloud technologies.
• At least 5 years of hands-on cloud infrastructure and application experience , preferably focused on AWS.
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud security architecture, governance, and security services.
• Experience designing and securing multi-account AWS environments and implementing cloud security guardrails.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, Zero Trust architecture, and least-privilege access controls.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Knowledge of container and Kubernetes security, including ECS and EKS.
• Experience with cloud security posture management, vulnerability remediation, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience integrating cloud security solutions with SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of issues, and provide technical guidance to junior team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing enterprise cloud security governance and DevSecOps controls.
• Familiarity with AWS and Azure security integrations in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
• Relevant AWS cloud, security, or architecture certifications are a plus.
