Aws Data Engineer

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Engineer with 46 years of experience in database migration and cloud data engineering. The candidate will be responsible for migrating databases from MySQL to PostgreSQL on AWS, with strong hands-on experience in AWS Aurora and PostgreSQL.

Knowledge or experience with Generative AI (GenAI) and AI-assisted database migration is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute MySQL to PostgreSQL database migrations on AWS.
• Work extensively with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL for database migration and management.
• Analyze existing MySQL databases, including schemas, tables, queries, stored procedures, and dependencies.
• Develop migration strategies with minimal downtime and data loss.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks after migration.
• Identify and resolve compatibility issues between MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries, database objects, and migration processes.
• Develop SQL scripts and automation for migration activities.
• Troubleshoot database migration issues and performance problems.
• Collaborate with application and cloud teams during migration and deployment activities.
• Follow best practices for security, scalability, availability, and performance on AWS.
• Explore and utilize GenAI/AI-assisted tools to improve migration efficiency and automation.

Mandatory Skills

• 4–6 years of experience in Data Engineering / Database Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with MySQL.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL to PostgreSQL migration.
• Good SQL skills and database troubleshooting experience.
• Strong understanding of database migration concepts and processes.
• AWS cloud experience.
