AWS Database Administrator

Akkodis is seeking a AWS Database Administrator f or a Contract job with a client in Plano, TX/Chandler, AZ/Charlotte, NC(Hybrid) . Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the financial services industry.

Rate Range: $60-65/Hr; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AWS Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Terraform. The ideal candidate will have experience building reusable Terraform modules to provision and manage AWS database infrastructure, along with a solid understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL databases.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reusable Terraform modules for provisioning and managing AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL infrastructure.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, and infrastructure management using Terraform.
• Configure and manage database-related resources, including parameter groups, subnet groups, security groups, and monitoring.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning and optimization.
• Support database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Work with AWS services, including Lambda, SQS, Step Functions, VPC, EC2, and IAM.
• Configure and troubleshoot AWS networking, security, access permissions, and database connectivity.
• Follow infrastructure-as-code best practices and support reliable, secure, and scalable database environments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
• Strong experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL and/or Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Terraform modules specifically for AWS RDS PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of Terraform, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated infrastructure provisioning.
• Practical experience with AWS services, including:
• AWS Lambda
• Amazon SQS
• AWS Step Functions
• Amazon VPC
• Amazon EC2
• AWS IAM
• Experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, and high availability.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
• Experience automating database administration and cloud infrastructure tasks.
• Knowledge of AWS database security, monitoring, and operational best practices.
