AWS/Redshift Database Administrator

We are looking for a Senior AWS Database Administrator to join our DBA team in Porto. The team manages a broad stack of relational and non-relational database technologies, both on premises and on AWS, supporting financial markets that run Monday through Friday with zero tolerance for unplanned downtime.

This is a pure infrastructure DBA role. You will not be involved in application development or business logic. Your ownership covers performance, availability, disaster recovery, security, and operational continuity at the database layer. You will work across multiple technologies, but the primary driver for this hire is deep, production-grade expertise in Amazon Redshift.

Main Responsibilities & Key Activities

• The role covers the full spectrum of infrastructure database administration across both on-premises and AWS environments. Tasks range from user management and space allocation to patching, upgrades, cluster reorganization, and performance analysis.
  Day-to-day activities include:

  • monitoring production database environments proactively

  • triaging and resolving incidents as they arise

  • executing planned maintenance and project work via an internal ticketing system.

• Beyond reactive support, you will contribute to:

  • architecture discussions

  • support application teams on query performance and troubleshooting on an advisory basis

  • participate in international projects across the wider team.

  • Knowledge sharing in weekly team syncs is an expected part of the role.

Experience Required

• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting mission-critical database environments on AWS

• Proven experience with AWS RDS and Aurora (PostgreSQL and MySQL)

• Hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift - peripheral or indirect exposure will not be considered

• Strong track record in database performance tuning and query optimization

• Experience working in shift-based and on-call support environments
