Azure Workload Automation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Workload Automation Engineer to lead the modernization of enterprise batch processing, workload scheduling, file generation, and third-party integrations. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, migrating, and operating Azure-native workload automation solutions that replace or modernize existing on-premises and legacy scheduling platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure Batch, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Azure Monitor, and DevOps practices, along with strong software development skills in .NET/C# and experience integrating with third-party systems through SFTP, APIs, and event-driven architectures. This role will play a key part in transforming critical daily, weekly, monthly, and annual business processes into scalable, resilient, cloud-native solutions Key Responsibilities 1. Workload Automation Modernization • Assess, analyze, and migrate legacy batch jobs and enterprise scheduler workloads to Microsoft Azure. • Design and develop cloud-native workload automation frameworks leveraging Azure services. • Modernize file-based integrations and batch processing workflows. • Consolidate workload scheduling platforms where appropriate to reduce operational complexity. • Create reusable scheduling, orchestration, and workload automation patterns. 2. Batch Processing & Scheduling • Design, develop, and implement workload automation solutions using: o Azure Batch o Azure Functions o Azure Logic Apps o Azure Data Factory (ADF) o Azure Automation Runbooks o Azure Container Apps o Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) • Build and support solutions for: o Daily batch processing o Weekly scheduled jobs o Monthly business processing o Year-end processing cycles o Event-driven workloads • Configure complex workload dependencies, sequencing logic, and job orchestration. 3. File Generation & Enterprise Integrations • Develop automated file generation processes for: o CSV files o Fixed-width files o XML o JSON o EDI files o Custom third-party formats • Implement and automate file transfers using: o SFTP o FTPS o APIs o Azure Storage services • Design and implement data encryption, compression, and validation. 4. Application Development • Develop and maintain workload automation services and components using: o C# o .NET 8+ o PowerShell o Python (preferred) • Build reusable frameworks and components for scheduling, orchestration, monitoring, and file processing. • Implement robust logging, exception handling, retry strategies, and resiliency mechanisms. • Follow software engineering best practices and coding standards. 5. Monitoring & Operations • Design and implement enterprise monitoring solutions using Azure-native monitoring and observability services. • Build operational dashboards, alerts, and reporting capabilities. • Implement: o Failure detection mechanisms o Auto-remediation processes o SLA monitoring o Escalation workflows • Establish audit trails, workload execution tracking, and operational governance. • Ensure high availability and reliability of workload automation platforms. 6. DevOps & Platform Engineering • Automate deployments and infrastructure provisioning: o Azure DevOps o GitHub Actions o Bicep o Terraform • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments. • Automate environment provisioning and configuration management. • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices. 7. Security & Compliance • Implement and manage: o Managed Identities o Azure Key Vault integration o Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) o Private Endpoints o Secure file transfer controls • Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security, governance, audit, and regulatory standards. • Follow Azure Well-Architected Framework security and operational best practices Role & responsibilities
