Babysitter/Nanny

Job Description: Seeking a part-time sitter for 5-6 hours on weekday afternoons (Monday through Friday, hours range from 1:30PM – 7:30PM depending on appointments and varied school dismissal times; usually 5 hours/day, 25-30 hours/week). The children involved are a 13-year-old male with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and his neurotypical younger sister (10 years old).

Applicants should have an understanding of ASD challenges and have characteristics of being empathetic, caring, kind, and patient. The “right” applicant will enjoy spending time with youth and have a “Big Sibling” approach to interactions and duties.

Location: Job duties take place mostly in-home or in the local community around Studio City, California. Driving duties include taking the male child to various after-school activities, classes and therapies in North Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Woodland Hills once a week (each activity is on a different day) and to Tarzana once every 2 weeks.

Interactions with both children will include helping with homework, reading for pleasure, playing board games, doing arts & crafts, engaging in physical activities, and supporting in community environments. Light cleaning is expected.

Targeted life skills include:

· Identifying and reacting to social cues
· Engaging with peers and others
· Increasing tolerance for non-preferred activities (like homework)
· Enhancing communication
· Improving fine motor skills through activities of daily living (ADLs)
· Increasing gross motor coordination through physical activity

Required Experience/Skills:

· Life experience with ASD youth
· Academic/professional education related to autism, special needs
· Valid driver’s license and car insurance
· Legal status to work in California
· Ability to pass a Livescan background check
· 3 personal references

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
