Seeking a Backend Engineer with strong Python, Snowflake and AI/agent development experience to join a global pharma company.

This role sits at the intersection of backend engineering, data platforms and GenAI, with a particular focus on enabling AI agents to work with enterprise data.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable Python backend services and APIs
• Develop data-driven solutions using Snowflake and SQL
• Work with Snowflake Cortex Analyst and Text-to-SQL capabilities
• Build and integrate AI agents using LangChain or similar frameworks
• Develop agent tools, skills and API integrations
• Apply prompt engineering techniques to improve AI/agent performance
• Work across data platforms and DataOps environments
• Implement monitoring, evaluation and instrumentation using tools such as MLflow and DeepEval
• Optimise application performance, reliability and cloud/data costs
• Collaborate with data, AI and engineering teams to take solutions from development into production#

Requirements

Must-have

• 4+ years of professional software/data engineering experience
• Strong Python development skills
• Strong Snowflake and SQL experience
• Hands-on experience with Cortex Analyst and/or Text-to-SQL solutions
• Practical experience building agentic AI solutions
• Experience with LangChain or a similar agent framework
• Experience with prompt engineering
• Experience developing agent tools, skills and API integrations
• Background in Data Platform / DataOps engineering
• Experience with MLflow and/or DeepEval
• Strong understanding of backend services, APIs, scalability and performance optimisation

Nice to have

• Experience with semantic layers
• Knowledge Graph experience
• RAG implementations
• AWS or other cloud platform experience
• Experience within pharma/commercial data environments
