What they need
NACOS Marine is a globally integrated group of companies at the forefront of maritime automation, navigation, and control systems. Building on decades of expertise and a heritage of trusted solutions. NACOS Marine continues to pioneer technologies that set the standard for safer, smarter, and more efficient ship operations worldwide.
With over 500 employees worldwide and a strong presence in Denmark through NACOS Lyngsø Marine A/S, the company combines decades of experience with renewed investment and strategic focus.
Based in Hørsholm and employing approximately 80 specialists, NACOS Lyngsø Marine plays a central role in developing future-ready solutions for safer and smarter ship operations.
About NACOS Connect
NACOS Connect gives customers and NACOS remote access to ships through a web portal. Built from scratch in recent years, it lets users manage their fleet, register ships, provision onboard servers, install modules and their dependencies, send commands, and retrieve logs. Remote Mimics displays onboard system screens live in the browser, while Replay shows past events.
Onboard modules run in containers on a Linux server using Azure IoT Edge, in a network zone separate from the automation system. The server initiates outbound connections to Azure, enabling communication and updates without a fixed ship IP. The platform uses .NET across ship and cloud, React for the frontend and certificates for authentication between modules and cloud services. The portal also runs locally on the ship when offline.
Tech stack: .NET backend services and APIs running on Linux · React frontend · Docker containers · Azure IoT Edge for onboard modules · Azure cloud services for storage, databases, API and web hosting, Function Apps and virtual machines.
The role
This senior role focuses on new development, combining independent technical ownership with close dialogue with the Product Owner for NACOS Connect, who handles users and customers. The platform is complex, and you'll build your understanding as you develop features and solve issues. Reliable functionality is the priority, supported by an established UI framework. You will learn the maritime domain as you go.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test .NET (C#) backend services and APIs on Linux and Azure.
- Build NACOS Connect features across the backend and React frontend.
- Automate ship setup by orchestrating API services into repeatable workflows.
- Integrate partner modules for consistent operation alongside NACOS modules.
- Write and update documentation weekly, especially for cybersecurity changes.
- Discuss ideas for new and existing features with the Product Owner Run full tests on a larger setup from time to time, troubleshooting onboard containers, certificates, ports, networks and cloud services with the Product Owner over Teams until the system is validated.
- Join a short daily stand-up on Teams with your team or teams.
- Review pull requests and spar with the other developers about code.
- Shape the architecture, challenge requirements, and gradually assume ownership of the platform.
- Spend a few hours a week, ad hoc, supporting other projects that are starting to use web, including a React touchscreen interface for onboard alarms. You and the current developer will be the only ones with web experience.
Most of your time goes to development and coding. Expect a fair number of meetings, mostly on Teams and sometimes in person with the developer team in Hørsholm. It is an onsite role with flexibility.
Soft skills
- Self-driven: you take the lead and don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do
- You like to communicate and don’t sit with headphones on keeping to yourself. Long technical sessions on Teams are part of the job
- You question requests and come up with your own ideas
- You don’t get frustrated when things are difficult. It is a complex system
- You take time to understand and analyse the system, not just write code that works
Your profile
- Senior developer with 5–10 years of experience in C# / .NET and web development
- Strong backend skills: services, APIs and databases
- You know how the web works, not just .NET on Windows
- Experience with a modern frontend framework, ideally React
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Your education does not matter, and you do not need maritime, OT or PLC knowledge
Why join
At NACOS Marine, you will work at the intersection of ships, both cruise and navy, satellite connectivity and cloud technology, developing a platform used on ships around the world. You will take real ownership of a platform that is still evolving, with direct influence on technical choices and a short path from ideas to decisions.
You will join a company that values initiative, open dialogue and learning from mistakes, giving you the trust and support to take responsibility and shape solutions together.
Other offers great for you!
