Back-End Engineer

Back-End Engineer | Node.js / TypeScript | Major Media & Entertainment Brand

I’m recruiting for one of the most recognizable brands in media and entertainment as they add a Back-End Engineer to their core product engineering team.

This is a rare opportunity to work behind a massive consumer brand while still operating on a small, highly collaborative engineering team where individual engineers have real ownership and visibility.

You won’t be maintaining one isolated service inside a huge organization. The team supports a broad ecosystem of high-traffic digital products, giving engineers exposure to everything from backend services and APIs to content platforms, media delivery, commerce and advertising technology.

What you’ll be doing:

• Build and scale backend services in Node.js / TypeScript
• Design and develop production REST APIs
• Work across high-traffic consumer-facing products and internal platforms
• Solve performance challenges involving caching, CDNs and content delivery
• Build and evolve service-oriented cloud architecture
• Own features from technical design through production
• Work closely with frontend, product, design and data teams
• Use modern AI development tools including Claude, Codex and GitHub Copilot to streamline engineering workflows

What they’re looking for:

• Strong production experience with Node.js and TypeScript on the backend
• Experience designing and building scalable APIs
• Strong backend architecture and engineering fundamentals
• Experience with high-volume applications, caching and CDNs
• Cloud infrastructure experience
• Someone who can clearly articulate the systems and products they’ve personally built
• A self-directed engineer who thrives on a small team with significant ownership

Experience with AWS serverless architecture, MongoDB and Fastly is highly valuable, although there is flexibility around specific infrastructure technologies.

Experience across consumer technology, streaming, video, AdTech, digital media, publishing or content platforms is also highly relevant.

$140K–$160K base
