Back-end Software Engineer - Startup Fintech

Context

Marble is a fintech infrastructure startup, backed by 42Cap, Passion Capital, and Hexa. The company believes that modern banking operations should be real-time and data sovereign, enabling Compliance Officers to run efficient operations with tight expert teams rather than large outsourced analyst groups.

Marble is building a groundbreaking open-source compliance platform for banks and fintechs, featuring autopilot capabilities for investigation, reporting, and detection tuning. The platform is already delivered to over 50 customers worldwide.

Based in central Paris, Marble is expanding its team of industry experts to scale its product and sales efforts.

Missions

• Design, build, and maintain Marble backend services (REST API, task queue, etc.), including open-source tools and libraries.
• Take ownership and document work internally and for customers.
• Build solutions with observability and scalability in mind, pragmatically.
• Develop solutions from the ground up, contributing beyond assigned tasks.
• Potentially take on leadership responsibilities, including people management.
• Contribute across domains such as front-end, data pipelines, client meetings, and security process documentation.

Working Conditions

• Competitive salary: 60k-90k€, depending on experience

Hiring process:

• Initial screening call with CTO, Pascal Delange, including a short technical exercise.
• Call with CEO, Arnaud Schwartz.
• 3-hour on-site assignment in Paris plus team meeting, followed by a 1-hour debrief.
• Reference check.

1. You have strong programming skills (e.g. go, typescript, python, rust, java…)
2. You know how to deal with relational databases: how to talk to them (SQL) and leverage their powers for creating customer value and reliability
3. You have a proven record in designing, building, debugging and maintaining complex back-end applications
4. You have an end-to-end understanding of the software stack
5. You have an entrepreneurial spirit, are biased towards action and think of customer value first
6. You have great written and oral communication skills. By default, you favor structured written communication and transparency.
7. You know how to accelerate your work with AI - and what decisions you should not delegate
8. You are fluent in English (oral and written)
9. Nice to have: experience deploying agentic AI features on complex workflows where control & scalability matter
10. Nice to have: side experience in security engineering, networking, pentesting and/or cloud security
11. Nice to have: experience with startup scaling
12. Nice to have: experience in fintech, payments, fraud or AML
