Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Junior Back End Developer (Intern) role based in Karachi.

This internship is designed for passionate fresh graduates or aspiring developers looking to jumpstart their career in backend development, AI, and automation. You will work alongside experienced developers to design, build, and maintain server-side applications, APIs, web scraping systems, and AI-powered solutions. The ideal intern will have a strong foundation in Python, a foundational understanding of web scraping or automation, and a deep curiosity for modern AI/LLM technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing backend applications and RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
• Learn and help build web automation and web scraping scripts using tools like Selenium, Playwright, or BeautifulSoup.
• Assist in extracting, cleaning, and structuring data from various web sources to feed into backend databases.
• Support the team in integrating AI chatbots, conversational workflows, and AI APIs (such as OpenAI or Grok) into applications.
• Assist in designing and managing SQL/NoSQL databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Help troubleshoot, debug, test, and document existing codebase and new features.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and product teams for smooth application integration.
• Use Git and version-control workflows daily for team collaboration.
• Participate actively in code reviews, team meetings, and continuous learning sessions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Basic to intermediate professional or academic experience in Python backend development.
• Hands-on familiarity or strong personal/academic projects involving web scraping or web automation.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, and backend architecture.
• Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Familiarity with at least one Python framework (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
• Curiosity and foundational knowledge regarding LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI integration (OpenAI/Grok APIs).
• Basic understanding of Git and version control systems.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies quickly and solve complex technical challenges.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and a collaborative attitude.

Preferred / Additional Skills (A Plus, but not mandatory)

• Exposure to telephony systems, VoIP, SIP, or WebSockets.
• Familiarity with Docker, containerization, or basic cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with background task queues like Celery or Redis.
• Personal or open-source projects showcasing automation or data pipeline handling.

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Exceptional self-taught developers with strong portfolio projects are equally encouraged to apply.
• Prior internship or freelance project experience in Python, automation, or scraping is a strong plus.
