Backend Development Facilitator

Enchanted Digital Academy (EDA) is seeking an experienced Backend Development Facilitator to deliver live, practical training for a cohort of aspiring software developers.

This is a part-time, short-term facilitation role involving four live virtual sessions over a four-week programme.

About the Role

The facilitator will lead weekly live sessions, teach backend development concepts through practical examples, guide learners through technical exercises, and help participants understand how backend systems are designed and developed.

EDA will provide the programme curriculum, learning materials, slides, assignments, and overall programme structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate one live virtual session per week for 4 weeks
• Teach backend development concepts in a clear and practical manner
• Demonstrate backend development workflows and best practices
• Walk learners through coding examples and practical exercises
• Explain backend architecture and how different components work together
• Answer technical questions during live sessions
• Support learners in understanding and completing practical assignments
• Provide brief technical feedback or clarification where required
• Maintain an engaging and supportive virtual learning environment
• Collaborate with the EDA programme team to ensure smooth programme delivery

Requirements

• 2+ years of practical experience in Backend Development or Software Engineering
• Strong knowledge of at least one backend language/framework, preferably Python or Node.js
• Experience building and working with REST APIs
• Good understanding of databases and SQL
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub
• Understanding of backend architecture and software development practices
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to beginners and early-career developers
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Comfortable facilitating live virtual classes
• Previous teaching, mentoring, coaching, or developer advocacy experience is an advantage

We are looking for a practising backend developer who can teach from real-world experience.

You should be able to break down technical concepts into simple, understandable steps while still giving learners enough practical exposure to understand how backend development works in real projects.
