We are a cross-unit and cross-location AI, tech and experience team. With 50 developers, AI & Full Stack engineers, UX/UI designers and consultants working directly with other WongDoody teams, we are team players and specialists—both in frontend and backend. Backend Engineer / DevOps

What you can expect

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain web applications and APIs (REST, GraphQL) using PHP, Python, and Node.js, following architectural, security, and code quality guidelines
• Create technical concepts and proofs of concept (PoCs) to support project estimates, and maintain technical project documentation
• Implement serverless and server-based cloud hosting environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), using and improving our automated toolset
• Build and orchestrate automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitHub, Terraform, and Docker
• Help ensure the scalability, observability, security, and cost efficiency of the technical architecture
• Monitor delivered solutions and provide necessary security and performance updates
• Use AI assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and internal AI tools
• Actively participate in peer code reviews to ensure high software quality across the team
• Design, improve, and automate infrastructure for development teams

What we’re looking for:

• 3–5 years of practical experience in commercial projects
• A college or university degree in an IT-related field, or comparable education
• Strong technical knowledge of Python; Node.js is a plus
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and relational and document-based databases
• Good experience with Docker and a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, such as AWS and GCP
• Experience with DevOps tools and technologies, including designing and improving CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with Linux-based systems such as Debian, including secure provisioning and maintenance
• Experience with automation tools for testing and infrastructure provisioning
• Familiarity with agile processes such as Scrum or Kanban
• Strong English skills
• Bash scripting and German language skills are a plus
