【About the Role】

Our Client, one of Japan's leading consumer tech platforms, is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its Logistics team. The team builds and runs the shipping platform behind the company's services, working with a range of domestic and global shipping partners to give millions of users a reliable, cost-competitive delivery experience.

As a Product Engineer, you will own your work end to end: shaping product specs, building consensus, ensuring quality and measurement, and shipping to production. We are looking for someone to solve complex, large-scale integration problems while helping the business expand into new services and global markets.

【Responsibilities】

• Design and develop backend solutions for internal users and external shipping partners
• Work closely with Product Managers and Business Development to plan and deliver the product roadmap
• Work with external partners to understand their business problems and system constraints, and design solutions that work for both sides
• Collaborate with internal teams across the organization to design new features and improve existing ones
• Build scalable systems that support new business launches and additional load from other services
• Build flexible integrations that keep up as partner systems and business needs change
• Lead the consolidation and migration of services to keep the platform simple and sustainable
• Own features end to end as a Product Engineer, from spec definition to release and measurement

【Requirements】

• 4+ years of experience working on large-scale backend systems
• Experience in backend design, development and operations for high-traffic services
• Ability to design and build with performance and scalability in mind
• Knowledge of software testing, including unit, functional and end-to-end testing
• Experience with data modelling and efficient querying across RDBMS and NoSQL databases
• Cloud development experience, especially with GCP or AWS
• Team development experience using Git/GitHub or similar version control
• Experience debugging legacy systems and running large-scale system migrations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, AI-driven environment where things change constantly
• Native or fluent Japanese

• Experience designing, developing and operating APIs in Go
• Experience with microservices architecture
• On-call experience for production services
• Experience integrating with third-party systems and partners
• Business-level English
