Backend Engineer Python

Collective.work is building an AI agent that automates recruiting workflows—from sourcing and screening to outreach and coordination. The company’s mission is to shift repetitive recruiting work from humans to software, enabling faster, higher-quality hiring. Collective.work operates at the intersection of:

Missions

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python
• Develop APIs and services powering the product and frontend
• Build systems for AI-driven workflows (matching, scoring, automation)
• Integrate with third-party platforms (ATS, CRM, data providers)
• Ensure performance, reliability, and security of backend systems
• Collaborate closely with frontend, data, and product teams
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmap

Tools & Environment

• Python
• Backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django
• APIs (REST, GraphQL)
• Databases (SQL/NoSQL)
• Cloud environments and scalable architectures
• Async processing, queues, or event-driven systems (bonus)
• AI/ML pipelines or LLM-based systems (bonus)
• SaaS tool integrations (e.g., HubSpot) (bonus)

Working Conditions

• Location: Brussels (hybrid: remote + in-person)
• Compensation: Competitive salary + equity

1. 3–6 years experience in backend development
2. Strong proficiency in Python
3. Experience building APIs (REST, GraphQL)
4. Familiarity with backend frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Django)
5. Solid understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and system design
6. Experience with cloud environments and scalable architectures
7. Interest in AI/ML systems and data-driven products
8. Based in or near Brussels, open to hybrid work
9. Bonus: Experience with async processing, queues, or event-driven systems
10. Bonus: Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines or LLM-based systems
11. Bonus: Experience integrating with SaaS tools (e.g. HubSpot)
