About the Role

Our client is a healthcare technology company helping senior living communities manage resident and staff profiles, care activity, and operational data.

The challenge is that this information often lives across different systems — EHRs, engagement platforms, billing systems, and other applications.

As a Backend Software Engineer – Integrations , you’ll build and maintain the backend systems that connect these platforms. The role is highly hands-on and approximately 99% focused on coding, debugging, documentation, and testing .

You’ll work with Java and Spring Boot to build reliable integrations, troubleshoot complex data flows, and ensure systems work correctly in production. Partner communication will primarily be handled by the US-based team, allowing you to focus on the technical implementation and delivery.

This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, within a team of approximately 10–12 developers.

What You’ll Do

• Build, maintain, and improve backend integrations between CarePredict and external systems.
• Develop backend services using Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, and AWS .
• Design and consume REST APIs, working with authentication, pagination, idempotency, retries, webhooks, and error handling.
• Analyze API documentation and understand how external systems map to internal data models.
• Identify data mapping, transformation, and integration gaps.
• Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code.
• Debug complex integration and backend issues and identify root causes.
• Test integrations end to end and validate functionality before production release.
• Work with real-world customer data to identify and resolve edge cases.
• Monitor and troubleshoot integrations after deployment.
• Create and maintain clear technical and integration documentation.
• Contribute to technical design decisions and continuously improve integration workflows.
• Take ownership of assigned systems and problems from development through production support.

What We’re Looking For

Must Have

• Ideally 2+ years of professional software development experience ; exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java .
• Production experience with Spring Boot .
• Hands-on experience building or consuming REST APIs .
• Understanding of API concepts such as authentication, pagination, retries, idempotency, webhooks, and error handling.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience debugging backend applications and troubleshooting production issues.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and clear technical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical tasks.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating with EHR or healthcare systems .
• Knowledge of HL7 v2, ADT, FHIR, or CCDA .
• Experience in senior living, long-term care, post-acute care, or healthcare technology.
• Experience with AWS , particularly ECS, RDS, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions.
• Experience working with monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Experience handling customer-facing or operationally critical systems.

Role Structure & Team

• Individual Contributor (IC) position.
• Directly reports to the Engineering Manager .
• Engineering organization of approximately 10–12 developers .
• Reporting structure: Director of Engineering → Engineering Manager → ICs .
• This role is primarily focused on hands-on engineering rather than partner or stakeholder management.

Working Hours & Location

• Bengaluru-based.
• Hybrid work is preferred, but remote and onsite models are also open for consideration .
• Office location is being finalized and is expected to be a coworking space in Bengaluru, such as WeWork.
• Standard working commitment is 8–9 hours per day .
• Required team overlap is 9:00 AM–12:00 PM ET , regardless of Daylight Saving Time.
