Backend/Full stack developer

We are looking for a skilled Backend / Full Stack Developer to design, build, and maintain robust server-side systems and end-to-end web applications. Success in this role means delivering reliable, scalable, and well-tested code that powers seamless user experiences and supports the organisations technical goals. Working closely within the development team on-site, this person will play a central role in shaping architecture decisions and driving engineering quality across the stack.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and full stack web applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and designers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Architect and optimise database schemas, queries, and data models for performance and reliability.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to maintain high code quality.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and system vulnerabilities.
• Integrate third-party services, APIs, and external data sources as required by product needs.
• Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and deployment pipelines.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Backend Developer, Full Stack Developer, or in a comparable software engineering role.

• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, Go, or PHP .

• Solid experience with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular .

• Hands-on experience designing and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL , and familiarity with NoSQL solutions.

• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and, ideally, GraphQL endpoints.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and containerisation tools such as Docker or Kubernetes .

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles including

  SOLID

  , design patterns, and test-driven development.

• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git , and collaborative workflows such as pull requests and branching strategies.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in an on-site team environment.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field,
