Role Overview

We are hiring a Background Investigator to conduct background checks and investigations on candidates and employees. The role combines investigative rigor with discretion — producing thorough, accurate reports that hiring decisions can rely on.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive background investigations across employment, education, criminal, and credit

• Interview references and verify credentials with previous employers and institutions

• Search public records, court databases, and credentialing registries

• Document findings clearly and write thorough investigative reports

• Maintain compliance with FCRA, state, and industry-specific regulations

• Manage a caseload of investigations against turnaround SLAs

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 2+ years in background investigation, compliance, or investigative work

• Strong research skills and attention to detail

• Familiarity with FCRA and adverse action processes

• Excellent written communication and report writing

• Comfort with investigative tools, court records, and public databases

• Discretion when handling sensitive personal information
