BACKHOE DRIVER / OPERATOR

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and responsible Backhoe Driver / Operator to join our estate operations team in Membakut, Sabah. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a backhoe loader for excavation, drainage maintenance, road works, land preparation and other general earth-moving activities within the estate.

Key responsibilities

• Operate backhoe loader safely and efficiently for excavation, digging and earth-moving works.
• Carry out drainage construction and maintenance within the estate.
• Perform estate road repair, maintenance and site preparation works.
• Load, move and relocate soil, gravel, debris and other materials as required.
• Assist with land clearing and other machinery-related estate works.
• Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of the backhoe.
• Monitor the condition of the machinery and report any defects, damage or mechanical problems immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper care of the machine.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and instructions from the Estate Manager or Supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

About you

• Previous experience operating a backhoe loader, excavator or similar heavy machinery is highly preferred.
• Possess relevant Backhoe Loader Operation competency certification, such as CIDB SKKP BHL2 or equivalent, where applicable.
• Valid Malaysian driving licence where driving duties or public-road operation are required.
• CIDB Construction Personnel Registration / Green Card will be an added advantage where applicable to construction-related work.
• Basic knowledge of machinery inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Able to identify and report basic mechanical or hydraulic issues.
• Familiarity with plantation, agricultural, construction or earthwork operations is an advantage.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
• Responsible, disciplined, punctual and safety-conscious.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
