Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Backup & Recovery Administrator L2 to join our IT Infrastructure and Data Protection team in Bucharest.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Cohesity, Dell EMC Networker, and Data Domain, with a solid understanding of enterprise backup, recovery, replication, storage, capacity management, and disaster recovery environments.

The role will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise backup infrastructure, executing restore and recovery activities, monitoring backup performance, supporting business-critical incidents, and ensuring agreed SLA/SLO and backup success targets are consistently achieved.

Experience with Dell ECS or NetApp is also required as secondary knowledge; experience with either platform is acceptable.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage enterprise backup capacity, performance, and availability.

Provide L2 technical support for backup and recovery infrastructure.

Administer and troubleshoot Cohesity, Networker, and Data Domain environments.

Configure and maintain backup policies, schedules, jobs, replication, and retention.

Troubleshoot backup and restore failures and perform root-cause analysis.

Perform customer-initiated restore and recovery requests.

Support file-system, database, VM, and application-level recovery.

Manage backup and recovery for:

Physical servers

VMware virtual machines

Databases

Microsoft 365

File systems

Build and configure Cohesity and Networker servers and associated components.

Perform disk-based and Disk-to-Disk (D2D) backup operations.

Manage backup agents and perform agent installations.

Monitor backup schedules and job performance.

Prepare regular backup reports, including monthly backup success-rate reporting.

Support backup replication and troubleshoot replication-related issues.

Perform routine maintenance and health checks of backup infrastructure.

Support capacity planning and performance tuning.

Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and recovery testing.

Manage tape-related activities, including coordination with Iron Mountain for tape recalls and restoration requirements.

Provide technical guidance to junior/lower-level system administrators.

Work with vendors and OEMs for technical escalations and complex incidents.

Ensure backup infrastructure complies with operational, security, and organizational policies.

Ensure SLA/SLO, KPI, and service-quality targets are achieved.

Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes in accordance with ITIL practices.

Identify potential risks and proactively implement preventive measures.

Support service provisioning activities, including service start, stop, suspend, and related operational tasks.

Follow ITIL-based Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.

Manage backup-related incidents within defined SLAs.

Perform proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.

Track backup SLAs, KPIs, and success rates.

Prepare operational and performance reports.

Maintain accurate technical documentation.

Drive service improvement initiatives.

Identify and mitigate operational and technical risks.

Manage backup software licensing and capacity.

Coordinate with vendors/OEMs for escalations.

Support production issues and critical recovery activities.

Scripting & Automation

Working knowledge of scripting and automation for backup administration and operational tasks.

Ability to use scripting to automate monitoring, reporting, health checks, or routine administration is highly desirable.

Required Experience & Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience in Backup & Recovery Administration.

Strong enterprise experience with Cohesity, Networker, and Data Domain.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience supporting enterprise backup and storage environments.

Experience with backup/restore of physical servers, VMware, databases, and applications.

Experience with replication, recovery, capacity management, and backup performance tuning.

Understanding of Disaster Recovery and business continuity processes.

Experience working within ITIL-based operational environments.

Ability to guide junior administrators and work independently on L2 incidents.

Advanced English proficiency in both spoken and written communication is mandatory.

Willingness to work onsite in Bucharest, Romania.
