Backup & Virtualization Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform backup and restore operations for Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) using Cohesity backup solutions.
• Conduct monthly preventive maintenance of IT systems.
• Carry out corrective maintenance to resolve system issues promptly and minimize downtime.
• Apply tested firmware and security patches across relevant hardware and software environments to ensure system reliability and security.
• Perform hardware and software installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Provide hands-on support for hardware and software troubleshooting, ensuring issues are diagnosed and resolved effectively.
• Deliver 24/7 onsite monitoring and support on a rotational shift basis, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Document system configurations, maintenance logs, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams and vendors for issue escalation and resolution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant IT support or infrastructure role.
• Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components, including servers, enterprise storage, and network systems.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, especially Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM), VMware, and Nutanix.
• Proficient in managing and supporting both Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions, such as Cohesity, NetBackup, Veeam, or equivalent.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware (server, storage) and software (OS, applications) efficiently.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 rotational shift setup, including night shifts and holidays.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
