Badminton Match Tracker — Remote Contractor / Gig Work
Shan Enterprises Inc.
Remote
Independent Contractor / Freelance
Flexible Schedule
About the Role
We are a badminton analytics AI platform that helps players and coaches better understand match performance.
We’re looking for Badminton Match Trackers to help us collect badminton match data using our custom tracking software. You’ll watch match footage and tag rallies, shots, players, and other match events so the data can be used inside our platform.
This is a remote, flexible contractor opportunity. There are no fixed shifts—you can choose when to complete tracking projects you accept, provided accepted projects are completed accurately and within the applicable deadline.
What You'll Do
- Watch badminton match footage using our web-based tracking software
- Identify and tag shots, rallies, players, and match events
- Follow our tracking guidelines to maintain consistent and accurate data
- Review your work for mistakes before submitting
- Complete accepted tracking projects accurately and within the applicable project deadlines.
- Track both professional matches and user-submitted matches
Training and examples will be provided before you begin working independently.
Who We're Looking For
You may be a great fit if you:
- Understand badminton and can recognize common badminton shots, e.g. know the difference between a reverse slice and full smash
- Are comfortable watching matches closely for extended periods
- Have strong attention to detail
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Have a reliable computer and internet connection
- Can consistently complete projects by their deadlines
Competitive badminton experience is helpful but not required. Players, coaches, badminton fans, and students with a strong understanding of the sport are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
This is a flexible gig-based position.
There are no required working hours or shifts. Contractors choose when they complete their work.
Trackers who wish to remain eligible for regular project availability are generally expected to complete approximately 5 or more matches per week. Contractors may choose whether to accept available projects, and there are no fixed working hours or shifts.
Compensation
This is a piece-rate contractor position. You are paid based on the number and type of badminton shots you successfully track.
Base rates:
- Singles matches: $0.015 CAD per shot
- User doubles matches: $0.020 CAD per shot
- Professional doubles matches: $0.030 CAD per shot
Some simpler annotation tasks, where shots have already been identified and only need to be classified or completed, are paid at 50% of the standard rate.
Performance & Volume Bonuses
Trackers can earn higher rates through consistent volume and accuracy.
Volume bonuses can increase your base rate by up to 50%, and trackers maintaining 97%+ accuracy can earn an additional 10% bonus.
At the highest combined tier, compensation can reach up to 1.6× the standard base rate.
Typical Earnings
A typical 15-minute badminton match contains around 200–300 shots and usually takes an experienced tracker about 30 minutes to complete. At the starting singles rate, this is typically around $3–$4.50 per match, with higher rates available for doubles, volume, and accuracy bonuses.
Higher-paying doubles matches, volume bonuses, and accuracy bonuses can significantly increase the amount earned per match.
For example, a high-volume tracker with the accuracy bonus tracking user doubles can earn approximately $0.032 per shot, or around $8.50 for a 266-shot match.
Additional monthly consistency bonuses of up to $75 CAD are also available.
Payment
Payments are issued monthly by e-transfer. Balances under $100 CAD ordinarily roll forward to the next payment period. If a contractor stops providing services or their account is closed, any outstanding earned balance will be paid on the next scheduled payment date.
