Job Title: Bagel Baker & Line Cook – Artisan Sourdough Bagels
Location: Encinitas, CA
Job Type: Part-Time, potentially Full-Time
Pay: $20-25 per hour (based on experience) + tips (tips avg $10-14/hr)

About Us

We’re New Wave Bagel, a sourdough bagel shop in Encinitas that’s all about good vibes, naturally fermented bagels, and quality ingredients. Our bagels are made with wild yeast, long fermentation, and serious care, resulting in a crisp, chewy, deeply flavorful bite. We’re inspired by 80s new wave, surf culture, and the California coast. We recently built a brand new kitchen at our shop in Encinitas where we make everything in house.

What We're Looking For

We’re hiring a reliable, early-rising Bagel Baker to join our team! You’ll be mixing, shaping, boiling, and baking our signature bagels from scratch. You will also be working the sandwich line, making sandos and toasts to order. Professional kitchen experience is required. This position has a strong possibility of turning into full-time by the end of the year.

Responsibilities

• Mix, ferment, and shape sourdough bagel dough
• Boil and bake bagels to perfection
• Work the sandwich line, making hot and cold food to order.
• Ensure quality, consistency, and timing
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Follow food safety and sanitation protocols
• Assist with dough prep and kitchen support
• Communicate with team members to keep things flowing

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional kitchen experience
• Knowledge of sourdough fermentation or line experience a big plus
• Ability to work early mornings (start times between 4:00–7:00 AM)
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for long periods
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and a team player
