About Us:
KISS Cafe & Bagels by KISS is a busy, locally owned breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant on Johns Island. We are known for creative, made-from-scratch food and our fresh New York-style bagels.

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced, dependable baker to join our team and play an important role in our daily bagel and bakery production.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands the importance of timing, consistency, organization, and quality. Our ideal candidate takes pride in their work, can manage daily production independently, and enjoys being part of a positive, fast-paced kitchen team.

Professional bagel-making experience is a strong plus. We are also willing to consider an experienced baker with solid bread or yeast-dough experience who is excited to learn our bagel-making process.

Responsibilities:

• Produce our New York-style bagels from start to finish, including mixing, shaping, proofing, boiling, topping, and baking
• Prepare biscuits, pastries, cookies, and other baked goods for our cafe and retail bakery
• Follow established recipes and production standards to ensure consistency
• Organize daily production so all bakery items are fresh and ready for service
• Monitor dough development, fermentation, baking times, and finished-product quality
• Maintain consistent standards for taste, texture, appearance, and freshness
• Monitor ingredient levels and communicate inventory and ordering needs
• Minimize waste through proper production planning and product rotation
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe bakery workspace
• Contribute ideas for seasonal bagel flavors, pastries, and bakery specials
• Work closely with our culinary and front-of-house teams

Requirements:

• At least two years of professional baking experience preferred
• Professional experience with bagels, bread, or yeast dough strongly preferred
• Ability to follow recipes and production procedures accurately
• Strong understanding of baking times, temperatures, proofing, and dough consistency
• Dependable and punctual, especially for early-morning shifts
• Organized and able to manage multiple products and deadlines
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working in a busy, high-volume restaurant and bakery
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper product storage
• Early-morning and weekend availability required
• Culinary school or formal baking training is preferred but not required
• Bagel-making experience is a strong plus.

• Ability to work around commercial ovens and bakery equipment
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive bakery-production tasks
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
