Baker/Cook

Cultivated is a coffeehouse in Palouse, WA that aims to provide delicious, wholesome drink and food in a curated yet welcoming environment. We are seeking a back-of-house team member who will create the fresh baked goods and food that make Cultivated special! Cross-training to barista duties is also possible. We’re looking for someone who loves to cook/bake, who is focused on efficiency and workspace cleanliness, and who is eager to learn with a cheerful attitude.

Job Description

• Prepare baked goods (cookies, scones, sweet bread, muffins, oat cups, etc)
• Prepare menu offerings (granola, eggs, bacon, quiches, etc)
• Prepare ingredients (sandwich components, syrups, etc)
• Assist with new recipe development and seasonal menu items as requested
• Receive and organize deliveries, and restock kitchen inventory
• Rotate inventory using FIFO and properly label/date all products
• Implement cleaning and organizational systems, to maintain a sanitary and tidy kitchen in accordance with health regulations and employer expectations
• Notify management of low inventory, equipment issues, or quality concerns
• Comply with all Cultivated policies and procedures with integrity

Schedule

• Availability on Wednesdays is required, and availability on Tuesdays is recommended (6-10 hours total, exact shift timing is flexible)
• Availability on Fridays is required (2-3 hours in the morning minimum, full day shift is possible)

Desired Skills

• Prior kitchen experience (home or commercial): required
• Efficient with kitchen tasks
• Able to work independently and follow written recipes/instructions
• Enthusiastic and friendly personality
• Detail-oriented and focused on workspace cleanliness

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, frequently bend, reach, and carry kitchen supplies, and comfortable working around hot ovens, sharp equipment, and commercial kitchen appliances

Compensation

• $17.13 per hour + (DOE)
