Bakery Associate

**Job Summary:**The Bakery Associate plays an essential role in preparing, baking, packaging, and selling premium gluten-free desserts while delivering exceptional customer service. This position is responsible for maintaining food safety standards, ensuring product quality and consistency, supporting daily bakery operations, and creating a welcoming environment for every guest.

Supervision Requirements:

While this position does not have direct reports, it is involved in the training and onboarding of new staff as needed.

Representative Duties:

Baking & Production

• Prepare cookie dough, frostings, and other bakery products according to standardized recipes.
• Portion, bake, decorate, and package cookies while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Monitor baking times and product appearance to ensure quality standards are met.
• Restock baked goods and maintain attractive product displays.
• Follow established procedures to prevent cross-contact and maintain the bakery's gluten-free standards.
• Assist with inventory counts and notify management of low inventory levels.

Customer Service

• Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
• Answer questions regarding products, ingredients, allergens, and bakery offerings.
• Accurately process purchases using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Package customer orders for in-store pickup and special orders.
• Resolve routine customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.

Food Safety & Sanitation

• Follow all California food safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace throughout each shift.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
• Properly label and rotate products following food safety guidelines.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing and glove use when required.

Store Operations

• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Restock ingredients and packaging supplies.
• Support inventory organization and receiving deliveries.
• Maintain cleanliness of customer-facing areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support bakery operations.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous customer service or food service experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain one as required by local regulations).

Compensation: $19 - $21/hour, Dependent on Experience

• Work in a bakery environment with exposure to ovens and varying temperatures.
